There is one thing that is very close to my heart and that is horses. I grew up with them and want to have a few in the yard as soon as I can. Until that happens again, I am teaming up with a great organization in my area called Central Virginia Horse Rescue. Bookmark card

I was just sitting around trying to find some inspiration for something new and so I had seen a post of a card that had a bookmark on the side of it. With February being the "month of love", I figured that I wanted to do something for somebody that was close to me but not necessarily someone that I might think of everyday. This person is an avid reader and I wanted to make something that they would have with them for a long time. Here is my rendition of a bookmark card using Florentine paper and February's SOTM, Thoughtful Tidings. Hope you like it.

Pampered Chef Bamboo Tool Turn-About

So, I was getting tired of a tool thing that I had gotten at Michael's that held my most often used tools and such because it was too deep. Eventually I took all the stuff out of the tool holder and put it either on my desk or in another holder thing that wasn't quite so hard to deal with, but still awkward. Then, one day I was at one of our vendor group's BINGO events and saw this little thing and was told that it would be great for scrapbooking supplies. Well, I finally was able to get my hand on one yesterday, brought it home, had a little ribbon from a previous project and it fit perfectly and then started stuffing it with some of those tools I use all the time and voila! here it is! I know I haven't been on in a couple of days again and wanted to give everyone an update. I am actually working on a swap with some fellow Consultants and gave myself the daunting task of making 72 cards. Well, really 80 cards because I want to keep one for myself to showcase. Whew! So...keep an eye out in the next week for some photos of some of the cards and it will give you a sneak peek into the new paper packs and some of the new stamps sets.

(I am so behind that my Google reader is probably almost at 3 digits for me to look at in awe - all the great blogs I follow - I just hope to be in some of their categories one day.

Dauber storage finally!

It's been a few days since I have updated my blog mainly because I am really anticipating the new shipment coming in. Oh how I wish I could show you what I will be doing with all the new toys I am supposed to get tomorrow. But while I was waiting, I had received a couple of days ago a new way to store my daubers. I got so tired of not knowing where they were or whether or not I was picking up the correct color. So...I decided to give it some zing because I didn't want the adhesive showing on the outside where I put the grid of colors to help me keep up with what is what. I used an old standby Moon Doggie because I am really a beach fan!

New Idea Book YAY!!! and WOW!!!

I have finally gotten my hands on the new Idea Book that goes live for everyone on February 1st. Some new and exciting things are in this new one that I just want to tell you about all of them. I can't show you anything yet as it will not be available to you until a little over a month, but I can surely get you thinking.

I am going to give you a few hints as to what is in this new book and if you figure the clues out, then you are really paying attention. This isn't going to be easy because I want you to know, but want to to be excited also when you see all the new product and papers.

But, before I do that, I do want to remind everyone that with the start of this new Idea Book, there will be some paper packs that will be discontinued. So hurry and order before they are gone. New shipping options (Yay!)

So our corporate office is great at listening to us and recently we have had a few changes and I would like to tell you about one that I think is really great. Beginning January 1, 2012, MyCTMH and EZ Invite orders that are under 10 pounds or less and within the continental U.S. will now have the option of being shipped via FedEx SmartPost. The FedEx SmartPost shipping charge is $4.95 or 4.95% of the retail order, whichever is greater. These will be sent through the FedEx system, but the final delivery will be through the USPS. This shipping method may take a couple of days longer to get delivered and FedEx ground service is still available. So how great is that? Saving money from the first of the year.

I recently went onto our bulletin board at Close To My Heart and saw this beautiful creation from one of our Canadian Consultants, Terry Diack, and had to try it out myself. I don't think it came out bad at all. This is done with one of our clear cards and Sonoma paper and our cute Snow Days stamp set.

Inspired Cards

So I was sitting her on my last day before I go back to work and thinking I want some inspiration and I looked at a couple of different places and went to an old standby site, splitcoaststampers. I saw a couple of cards I wanted to experiment with and here they are.

The first is called Center Step Card. I make most of my cards for the hubby so that's why it has a little love in it. :-) I used some Olivia paper and Stickease with this.

The second card is called Easel Card. This is the hubby's favorite out of the two. He was like oh I really like that LOL. This used Roxie, the stamp set that came with the WOTG and a little liquid glass (I love that stuff!)

I think I will start doing cards a little more like these in the future for friends and family because they just are so darn cute. And really easy to do also. Hope you like them.

Today I finished this week's Mojo Monday sketch. This is my variation of it and I thought it was appropriate for the holidays. I used all Close To My Heart papers and used the Heritage Cricut cartridge for the scroll. I might even use this as a platform for some Santa gift cards for my customer's partners ;-) so they know exactly what they want. Scrapbooking Challenge 130

At Close To My Heart there is a wonderful bulletin board that we are able to talk to each other from all over the country and Canada. A couple of our creative Consultants started a challenge for us each week and this week it was a layout out of our Magic Interactive Scrapbook How-To book. In this book, not only do you get regular layouts, but there are different twists to each one. I decided to go the old conventional no frills way and not put any interactiveness (No red pens teachers ;-)). i used the Art Philosophy cartridge for the circle and the oval and I used the mask of the butterfly sticker as my template for the butterfly on the circle. This will be for some spring photos probably from one of our favorite places, Maymont, where they actually have a butterfly garden. If you live in the Richmond, VA area and never have been, you don't know what you are missing and if you are visiting the Richmond, VA area, then, if you have time, go! It is privately funded by people like you and me and was set up like that from the previous owner so the city can never take away that part of nature. So much rich history at this place and they are full of events. Check the website out to find out more. Now on to the layout. I hope you like it.

Veteran's Day

11/11/11 is a monumental day in itself, but it is for me a day to remember. A day to remember those who have served before me and who have lost their lives for us. Losing one's life does not always consist of dying. It can also mean they sacrificed for this country just to come home and not be able to adjust, or those around them not able to adjust. I had family that was in the armed services and I have several friends that are now. I just want to say THANK YOU and to tell them all that I remember. I remember what you did for me before I was born and I remember what you do for me now. In whatever capacity, you served,

Well, I had an exciting weekend. Some great (had a great workshop with some wonderfully creative people) and some bad (wrecked my car on the way home afetr the second day) but I will focus on the great because the bad can be fixed! Since I was busy with a wonderful workshop with some of the nicest Consultants with CTMH, I came out refreshed and ready for some creativity!

Now, for today's favorite. I really had to think about which one was going to be next, but I think it is now the new B&T that we have. it is now cardstock weight so you can actually make it as a base page and you can use it for so many projects made from our new Cricut Cartridge Art Philosophy. It comes with a little zip strip at the top with a decorative design or wording that you can use on your page, card, or anywhere else you need a little extra. They feature a different design on the front and back. They still have the white core that is perfect for embossing, sanding or tearing. So the next time you order a paper pack, you will be pleased with what they have available for more projects.

What is your favorite Close To My Heart product? (#2)

Ok, for today I have picked something that some people wouldn't think of as a favorite, but it is something that I just can't live without and that I use everyday. It is my (hollering) VersaMat! Let's look at it's name...Versa (comes from versatile) and mat. Versatile is not the word for this mat. Not only does it have the measurements in the best place for paper placement, but it is self healing so I can do all my paper piercing and it is great for stamping (flip it over and see what I mean). I take this thing with me everywhere because it just makes it easier for that straight placement.

So, another one of our wonderful Consultants has sparked my brain into thinking about why I am a Close To My Heart Consultant. That got me thinking about the products that we carry. I like all of our products. I mean who wouldn't? Most of our main products are Made in the USA (my family prides ourselves on buying where we make it) and part of the sale of the My Acrylix stamp sets are given to Operation Smile. That's just great business in my eyes. But also, we have great products. Our cardstock, markers and stamp pads all match each other. Embossing powders, brads, ribbons, buttons and so many more embellishments that are all color coordinated. Our stamp sets are the best acrylic stamps on the market. We even provide a piece of foam for clean stamping with each stamp set. And we have My Creations products that are so fun to work with. So which one is my favorite? Just so many to choose from that I like, I can't decide, so each day I will be going over a new one with you (Note the #1 at the header of the post). Today's pick is the My Acrylix Stamp Sets.

Not only are they made in the USA, but when you purchase a set, money goes to needy kids with Operation Smile. How great is that? But that isn't all. I LOVE these stamps more than any others because they are so easy to use and they stamp so cleanly. Many a time I have gotten a new stamp set and I can't pull the stamp off the plastic and then it rips. Ours come right off the base and adhere right back. Or when I stamp, it doesn't look anything like what it's supposed to look like. Ours stamp very well, even the extremely detailed stamps come out very clean. And, now, they are perfect with our new cartridge, Art Philosophy, for the Cricut from Provocraft. Cut out the stamp design from the cartridge and then just stamp. Sizes are on the new sets so you know how large to cut your design. Just awesome for quick cuts!

So, I was looking through my stamps and found this set (Christmas Tags - D1095) that made me think about the tags that are on our Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge. Even though some of our stamps were not designed with the AP cart in mind, there are still many that you can use this versatile cartridge for. These are cute and you can make them in any color you want.

Scrapbooking Challenge #127

On our bulletin board with CTMH we have a great group of ladies that had started a scrapbooking challenge and I have decided to start doing these. This week is #127 and it is from our Magic book. Bucket List with Roxie paper

So the bonus project with our great Roxie paper was a bucket list. So it got me to thinking about what I have not accomplished in my life that I want to before I "kick the bucket". So I started writing and writing. And I actually found a website, http://squidoo.com/100things, and it helped my brain open up even more. Granted, all of us want to go places, but there is more than places that make our lives full. Here is my FIRST bucket list box. I will be making another one or two but this first one is the one I will concentrate on. The others are basically places. I had made the other one that I have made into an ABC box. I will be putting pictures on the back of each letter card. Also, I will be making an Advent calendar soon with one of our great winter papers.

Since I did not have the availability to use the new Cricut cartridge, I had to improvise and made these 3 2-page layouts. The first layout, I just ordered some new prints, so it is just bare layout as of now. I will repost when the photos arrived. Hope you enjoy.

Kraft cards to make an album? Really? Yup!!

Close To My Heart now has a set of 6"X6" kraft die-cut cards (Z1474) and you can open them up and glue them together and voila! a cute little album. This was made to commemorate the trip to our Convention at Disneyland. So many options with this project also. I have thought about actually cutting some spots in some of the pages to be able to see something on the other page. The NEW Decor Journaling Spots (Z1461) were used on many of the pages and is such a great way to spice up your journaling. And the NEW Color-Ready Alphabets Cork (Z1450) is so easy to use. All you do is take your marker and color. You can use more than one color on it to give it a little jazz too. Imagine what you could do for a 4th of July page with them.

Cute little memory box project

I really love the NEW My Creations Memory Box (Z1614-Autumn/Winter 2011 Idea Book, pg. 131). There are so many options with this. I will be doing a version of an Advent calendar next.So many choices to choose from and i know I will probably have several of these in my house. This particular project will actually be used as an alphabet memory game. Hope you like it...I know I love it!

This is my first post on my blog and please be patient while I learn. Many of my friends have already doing a blog and I love how they are so great at doing it, but it will take me a little practice.
